COTUR and the National Tourism Institute (INATUR) have signed a cooperation protocol that lays the foundations for working together to promote Mozambique in regional and international markets. The agreement was signed by Richard Baulene, director general of INATUR, and Noor-Momade, chairman of COTUR's board of directors, at a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, following the Mozambique Tourism Summit.
The protocol provides for the sharing of efforts, knowledge and joint execution on four fronts - marketing, training, communication and tourism promotion - with a focus on strengthening public-private cooperation, positioning Mozambique as a destination of excellence in priority markets, enhancing cultural and natural identity through diversified and sustainable programs and supporting presence in international campaigns and fairs.
The main objectives are to increase the flow of tourists and improve the visitor experience, as well as to increase the digital presence and reputation of Brand Mozambique through the high visibility and strength of COTUR's channels.
COTUR's PCA was presented with some souvenirs by Basílio Muhate, Minister of Economy, and took the opportunity to unfurl a Mozambique Tourism brand flag.
In his closing speech, the President of the Republic stressed the importance of the recognition achieved across borders and the country's affirmation abroad, referring to the recent distinctions “which fill us all with pride”.
Speaking about the awards obtained in Brussels and Mozambique's distinction as “the best sustainable destination in the world”, the Head of State made a point of sharing this success with all tourism operators and all Mozambicans, highlighting COTUR, which “received the world award for best tourism entrepreneur”, and particularly saluting COTUR's CEO, “our ambassador here, Noor”.
Daniel Chapo concluded by pointing out the potential and growth trajectory of Mozambican tourism and the importance of public-private partnerships to transform international recognition into measurable results for companies, employment and revenue.
Expectations are high and it is hoped that the commitments in this protocol will soon evolve into a concrete schedule of actions aimed at riding the wave created in recent months.
