As part of its support for the Ministry of Health and the strengthening of the SNS, COTUR delivered five plaster saws to the Orthopedics department at Maputo Central Hospital, to speed up immobilizations, prosthesis/orthosis adjustments and plaster removals in the emergency room and during consultations. The delivery was made by COTUR's PCA, Dr. Noor-Momade.

COTUR formalized the donation of five plaster saws to the Orthopedics department of the HCM, a national reference unit. The equipment will be used in the plaster and orthopedic rooms, as well as in the emergency and outpatient departments, with the aim of reducing waiting times and improving the flow of care during peak periods.

HCM is the largest hospital in the country, with around 1,445-1,500 beds, and plays a central role in the trauma and orthopedics referral network. The pressure on care is consistent: Maputo's four main hospitals together treat around 19,000 injured people a year, and road accidents remain high, with 825 deaths in 2024 and 409 in the first half of 2025 (rising to 575 by August), indicators that help explain the demand for immobilization and rehabilitation care.

“This is a simple gesture with a big goal: to shorten the time between clinical need and response in a service that deals with fractures, immobilization and rehabilitation on a daily basis. Our social responsibility actions focus on operationality, in coordination with the hospital teams and at the service of families,” said Dr. Noor-Momade during the handover.

The allocation and commissioning of the equipment will follow the HCM's internal circuits, according to the priorities defined by the clinical directorate and the orthopaedic services.

COTUR fits this action into its social responsibility policy, with a focus on health and education and alignment with public priorities. The company emphasizes operationality: providing services with resources that add predictability and capacity, in conjunction with the health authorities.
