On October 3, at the Avenida Hotel (Maputo), the CTA's National Business Council (CEN) held its first meeting with its members, in a hybrid format that allowed all members to participate.
This session marked the formal presentation of the new board following the elections held last September, which saw Dr. Noor Momade take over as president and Dr. Osvaldo Maute as vice-president. The CEN board promoted the opening of a forum for consultation and dialogue with its members with the aim of guiding the plan of activities for the next cycle with the effective contribution of those who are the strength and raison d'être of CEN. The room was practically full, a clear sign of the mobilization of the business community.
The board gathered a number of structural inputs for the construction of CEN's agenda. The focus was on how the body will work: continuous consultation with members, prioritization by impact and feasibility, and accountability anchored in indicators. The launch of a dashboard of indicators and a 100-day milestone for public monitoring of progress were also signaled.
“CEN is an advisory body, but with the ambition of organizing evidence to reduce friction for those who invest and operate. Today's contributions are already on our prioritization grid: impact, feasibility and time-to-result,” said Noor Momade, stressing the importance of active participation in CTA initiatives, giving the example of the next edition of CASP scheduled for 12, 13 and 14 November, as well as business missions.
The CEN board is now committed to scheduling future sectoral sessions, in conjunction with the CTA.
All the information gathered will serve as the basis for the activity plan and the definition of the work fronts that will guide the dialog with public entities and the implementation of initiatives with members.
