COTUR formalized the donation of three ambulances to the Ministry of Health (MISAU) at a ceremony led by the Minister of Health, Dr. Ussene Isse, and attended by the chairman of the company's board of directors, Noor-Momade. The vehicles, equipped for stabilization and transport, will be integrated by the MISAU into the reference routes after the usual technical procedures.
Speaking to the press, Noor-Momade made a point of framing the initiative not only within COTUR's long-term commitment to health and education projects, as well as the role that logistics plays in public service, but also reinforced the obligation of the private sector and the country's large companies to do their part.
“Every minute counts, we know that. Our contribution is to make things work where they are most needed, in coordination with the authorities, so that fewer and fewer Mozambicans suffer. With so many successful entrepreneurs here today, it's essential to understand this,” said COTUR's CEO. Noor-Momade also said that “true success is when we don't have our compatriots suffering for things that are within our power to reverse. We're talking about a lack of conditions that, together, we can help to overcome. Mobile media, infrastructure, technology, etc. We can all contribute to this and I'm sure that, God willing, this is what the private sector in Mozambique will do.”
The recent winner of the Best Tourism Entrepreneur award in Brussels also stressed that the focus of this contribution was on speeding up response times and predictability in the transportation of users who need it most, in conjunction with the allocation criteria defined by the Ministry.
The holder of the Health portfolio, Dr. Ussene Isse, valued the gesture as a direct contribution to access to care, noting that the allocation of the vehicles will follow clinical and operational criteria and will be publicly communicated after integration into the National Health Service fleet.
Thanking and appreciating COTUR's gesture, the Minister assured that this is a moment that “encourages and strengthens me, as a health sector, to continue together for a noble cause.”
“There is only greatness in human beings, when we take care of others with love, affection, kindness and affection. This gesture of love that you are bringing here to the Ministry of Health today is a noble, sublime gesture that I have to take note of,” thanked the health minister.
In addition to the Minister of Health, various representatives from the government, the private sector and civil society made a point of attending, signaling the unity between the public and private sectors that was so present in the calls for cooperation and a sense of commitment - with an emphasis on contributions to improvements in the field - that marked the entire event.
