The President of the Republic opened the 20th Annual Private Sector Conference with a message of continued reform and an explicit focus on tourism as the engine of growth. “We have to take this opportunity to invest in tourism and we made our measures very clear at the first tourism conference held in Vilanculos,” he said, framing the sector in the competitiveness agenda for the coming years.
Also in his speech, the Head of State stressed the role of international recognition in consolidating the country's image. “This international recognition proves that sustainability and innovation are Mozambique's new brand. And this is reflected in the reforms we are carrying out,” he said, linking the country's recent trajectory to the changes underway in the fiscal, administrative, judicial, production and financing framework.
The President referred to specific examples, including the individual distinction of a Mozambican entrepreneur in the sector. “On the same occasion, Mozambique was awarded the best tourism entrepreneur - our brother here, Noor-Momade, for whom I ask for a huge round of applause,” he said, associating private merit with the country's narrative of external affirmation.
On a broader level, the presidential message reinforced the focus on predictability and execution: reforms to reduce costs and bureaucracy, improve legal certainty, integrate production chains and expand financing for economic activity. In tourism, the priority is to turn prestige into measurable results - more investment, a better visitor experience and a greater contribution from the sector to employment and revenue - taking advantage of the measures already outlined and the public-private cooperation activated over the last year.
